About the Book

2010 – New Release Explores the Power of Culture To Control the Country

Master the Culture: The Way To Unleash Your Ultimate Potential

is released by author Vernon Martin

At the heart of this book is the author’s belief that mastering the culture gives power “to control the meaning of reality.” The U.S. culture makes some groups feel superior and others inferior, knocking minorities – particularly African-Americans – out of the competition. But groups can study the culture to see who benefits, who suffers and who dominates society to the detriment of others. By exploring how each ethnic group in the United States has been affected, both positively and negatively, people can change the way they think and stop simply reacting to racism and discrimination.

Master the Culture provides a means to maneuver through the pitfalls to conquering the country’s culture and the world. The book also offers specific examples that may counter traditional thinking, such as the Republican Party’s contributions to the African-American community. For instance, the party was created in 1854 as an anti-slavery party, and White Jewish Republicans, along with W.E.B. DuBois, founded the NAACP in 1909. The book emphasizes that those who want to do well must recognize that our beliefs and behaviors are socially patterned and constructed. Only humans rely on culture instead of instincts to survive, and those who can master the culture will go far in life, whether their goal is political office or climbing the corporate ladder.

Author Vernon Martin earned a degree in business administration from the University of Colorado at Boulder and an MBA in marketing strategies from Regis University. Before college, Martin was lead writer and rapper in the group Edge of Elimination and produced two CDs that have sold more than 70,000 copies. This published songwriter was an Americorps volunteer while in college and was district executive for the Boy Scouts of America. He is a consultant and motivational speaker.

What the hell is a Negro anyway? Where does a Negro come from and why do we continue to use that name? Negro comes from the word black in Spanish. The people who kidnapped Africans (Europeans) and began calling them Negroes in the fifteenth century and now the confused African Americans think that they are Negro’s, instead of Africans, and demand that they be called a Negro, instead of an African. And if you call a Negro, an African, they are genuinely offended about being called an African.

I understand there is no glamour, romance, or sexiness with being an African like there is with being a French man or woman. The language of love and thoughts of midnight rendezvous with a tall dark stranger on a European vacation or visiting the Eiffel Tower and historic museums are exciting and educational. Now, what do people think about Africa, the stories haven’t been so kind. Wild Images of being eaten alive by hostile tribal groups with bones in their lips and noses, being chased down and eaten by lions on the open savanna and monkeys and gorillas swinging on vines in the jungle with crocodiles in the river below ready to eat you. Africa has had the worst public relations machine in history.
